Overview & Description

Princeton Sentry® Maidenhair Tree (Ginkgo biloba ‘Princeton Sentry’) is a stately deciduous tree prized for its narrow, columnar form with a dense crown. Its distinctive leathery, green, two-lobed, fan-shaped foliage turns a brilliant golden yellow in fall, persisting for a while before dropping to form a stunning golden carpet beneath the tree. This male selection produces no foul-smelling fruit, making it an excellent choice for residential and urban landscapes.

Growth & Size

This variety exhibits a narrow, columnar, upright growth habit with a dense crown. It is a slow to moderate-growing tree, typically reaching a mature size of about 40 – 50 feet in height with a spread of 20 – 26 feet.

Additional Notes

It blooms in spring with inconspicuous flowers; this male selection is fruitless. Hardy to Zone 4, it tolerates a variety of soil types and conditions, as well as pollution and heat. An outstanding choice for street plantings, urban gardens, residential landscapes, and smaller spaces where narrow columnar form, golden yellow fall colour, and exceptional tolerance to urban conditions are desired.
