The Prairie Sky Poplar, also known as the Tower Poplar, is a fast-growing, narrowly columnar cultivar prized for its striking vertical form. It reaches heights of 40-50 feet while maintaining a width of only 10-15 feet, making it an ideal living screen or windbreak for tight spaces.
Its foliage consists of glossy, dark green leaves that flutter in the breeze, providing movement and sound. In autumn, the leaves turn a bright yellow. This hybrid poplar is extremely cold-hardy (Zone 3) and adapts to a variety of soils, thriving in full sun.
Valued for its rapid growth and low maintenance, it is commonly used for quick privacy, property line definition, and vertical accents in urban and residential landscapes. While not a long-lived tree, the Prairie Sky Poplar provides immediate impact and functional height, serving as an excellent temporary or fast-growing solution for new landscapes.
