Latin Name: Zinnia elegans ‘Magellan’Â
The Zinnia ‘Dwarf Magellan’ is a compact, floriferous annual prized for its fully double, dahlia-like blooms and uniform growth. Reaching 12–14 inches (30–35 cm) tall, it’s ideal for borders, containers, and small-space gardens.
This F1 hybrid produces 3–4 inch (7–10 cm) flowers in vivid shades of coral, pink, yellow, red, and white, with perfectly symmetrical petals and a long vase life. Blooming early summer to frost, it outperforms older dwarf zinnias with disease resistance (especially to powdery mildew) and heat tolerance.
Thrives in full sun and well-draining soil, with moderate drought tolerance. Deadheading prolongs flowering, though it’s self-cleaning in many climates.
Perfect for cutting gardens or mass plantings, pair with blue salvia, marigolds, or ornamental grasses.
