Overview & Description
TreasuRed Apple (Malus ‘TreasuRed’ PBR) is a prairie hardy apple with a compact, columnar growth habit, making it an excellent choice for small gardens and narrow spaces. Large, cherry red coloured fruit ripens in early fall, featuring crisp, white flesh that is great for storing, baking, or fresh eating. This new introduction from the University of Saskatchewan offers exceptional hardiness and reliable fruit production for northern gardeners.
Growth & Size
This variety exhibits a compact, columnar, upright growth habit. It is a moderate-growing tree, typically reaching a mature size of about 12 – 16 feet in height with a spread of only 36 – 48 inches.
Additional Notes
It blooms in spring with white to pink flowers. Hardy to Zone 3, it requires another apple variety within 150 meters (500 feet) for cross-pollination. An outstanding choice for small gardens, narrow spaces, edible landscapes, urban lots, and home orchards where compact columnar form, large cherry red fruit, and prairie hardiness are desired.
