Overview & Description

The Gold Drop Potentilla (Potentilla fruticosa ‘Gold Drop’) is a charming, compact shrub known for its delicate, fern-like foliage and abundant blooms. Its small, finely textured bright green leaves create a soft, lush appearance throughout the season. From late spring until frost, it is blanketed with profuse, saucer-shaped, bright yellow flowers. This dense, multi-stemmed deciduous shrub has a rounded to mounded form.

Growth & Size

This variety exhibits a dense, mounded, and compact growth habit. It typically reaches a mature size of about 2 feet in height with a spread of 3 feet. It has a slow growth rate and can live for approximately 30 years.

Additional Notes

It blooms continuously from late spring through early fall. Exceptionally hardy to Zone 2, it is drought-tolerant, low-maintenance, and adaptable to a wide range of well-drained soils, though it dislikes wet conditions. It thrives in full sun to partial shade, attracts butterflies, and is deer resistant. An outstanding choice for borders, rock gardens, mass plantings, ground cover, or where continuous color, fine texture, and easy-care nature are desired.
