Diabolo® Ninebark (Physocarpus opulifolius ‘Monlo’) is a fast-growing, award-winning deciduous shrub prized for its dramatic dark purple, lobed foliage that holds its rich color from spring through summer before turning red-purple in fall. In early summer, small pink-white blooms appear, maturing into red ornamental seed heads that extend seasonal interest. This striking contrast plant is highly versatile and tolerates a variety of soil conditions.

Growth & Size

This variety exhibits an upright, rounded, arching growth habit. It is a fast-growing shrub, typically reaching a mature size of about 6.5 – 8 feet in height with a spread of 6.5 feet.

It blooms in early summer. Hardy to Zone 3, it is adaptable and tolerates a variety of soil conditions, including clay and drought once established.
