Latin Name: Plectranthus scutellarioides ‘Solar’

The Coleus ‘Solar’ is a sun-tolerant, eye-catching annual prized for its radiant, golden-yellow foliage and compact habit. Growing 12–18 inches (30–45 cm) tall and wide, it’s ideal for containers, borders, and mass plantings.

This standout cultivar features broad, serrated leaves in vibrant chartreuse to bright yellow, often with hints of lime green. Unlike traditional shade-loving coleus, it thrives in full sun (6+ hours daily) while maintaining intense, non-fading color.

Thrives in moist, well-draining soil. Heat-loving but frost-sensitive (hardy in zones 10–11). Deer-resistant and low-maintenance.

Perfect for illuminating sunny gardens, pair with purple petunias, blue salvia, or bronze sweet potato vine.

Key Features:

  • Foliage: Glowing yellow, sun-stable

  • Habit: Uniform, mounded

  • Uses: Landscape “spotlight,” mixed combos

  • Toxicity: Mildly toxic to pets.
