Overview & Description
Center Glow Ninebark (Physocarpus opulifolius ‘Center Glow’ PP16894) is a striking deciduous shrub prized for its unique tri-colored foliage. New leaves emerge bright rose-red with a golden yellow center, maturing to deep burgundy for a season-long display. In early summer, clusters of white blooms contrast beautifully with the colorful foliage, followed by bright red seed heads that extend interest into fall. Older branches develop attractive shredding bark with age, adding winter texture.
Growth & Size
This variety exhibits an upright, rounded, slightly arching growth habit. It is a moderate to fast-growing shrub, typically reaching a mature size of about 6.5 feet in height with a spread of 8 feet.
Additional Notes
It blooms in early summer. Hardy to Zone 3, it tolerates many soil conditions and is low-maintenance once established. Asexual propagation is prohibited. An outstanding choice for hedges, screens, mixed borders, mass plantings, and specimen plantings where striking rose-red and burgundy foliage, white blooms, red seed heads, and multi-season interest are desired.
