Overview & Description
Woodward Juniper (Juniperus scopulorum ‘Woodward’) is a dense, upright evergreen valued for its strong columnar form and rich green foliage. Compared to narrower varieties, it offers a slightly fuller silhouette while still maintaining a tidy, vertical presence. Its soft, scale-like foliage holds its color well year-round, making it a reliable choice for structure and screening in the landscape. This hardy conifer requires minimal pruning to maintain its natural shape and provides excellent visual interest in both residential and commercial settings.
Growth & Size
This variety has a narrow to medium columnar, upright growth habit. It is a moderate-growing conifer, typically reaching a mature height of approximately 12–15 feet with a spread of 4–5 feet.
Additional Notes
It does not produce showy flowers. Hardy to Zone 3, it is well-suited to cold climates and tolerates urban conditions. Once established, it is drought tolerant and low maintenance. An excellent option for privacy screens, windbreaks, hedging, and vertical accents where a slightly fuller columnar evergreen is desired.
