Overview & Description

The Vanilla Strawberryâ„¢ Hydrangea (Hydrangea pan. ‘Renhy’ PP20670) from the First Editions® collection is a show-stopping shrub renowned for its stunning, multi-coloured blooms. Its large, conical flower heads begin creamy white in mid-summer, gradually transitioning to soft, blush pink, and finally deepening to a rich strawberry-red as they mature. This captivating colour progression creates a dynamic, ever-changing display that lasts from mid-summer through fall. The strong, sturdy stems hold the large flower heads upright, preventing flopping.

Growth & Size

This variety exhibits an upright, robust, and well-branched growth habit. It forms a substantial, elegant shrub, typically reaching a mature size of about 6 to 8 feet in height with a spread of 4 to 5 feet . It has a fast growth rate.

Additional Notes

It blooms from mid-summer through fall, with flowers excellent for cutting. Hardy to Zone 4, it is low-maintenance and thrives in full sun to partial shade, adapting to most well-drained soils. It is deer-resistant and attracts pollinators. Blooms on new wood, so prune in spring. An outstanding choice for borders, mass plantings, hedges, or as a stunning specimen where dramatic, long-lasting, ever-changing colour and easy-care nature are desired.
