Overview & Description

Spice Babyâ„¢ Korean Spice Viburnum (Viburnum carlesii ‘SMVCB’ PP25872) is a compact, rounded deciduous shrub prized for its intensely fragrant spring blooms. Clusters of small, pink-blushed, white flowers emit a delightful spicy scent that perfumes the garden. The dark green foliage turns an attractive burgundy in fall, adding seasonal interest. This improved compact form offers the beloved fragrance of Korean Spice Viburnum in a smaller, more manageable size.

Growth & Size

This variety exhibits a compact, rounded, dense growth habit. It is a slow to moderate-growing shrub, typically reaching a mature size of about 4 – 5 feet in both height and spread.

Additional Notes

It blooms in spring with spicy-scented, pink-blushed white flowers. Hardy to Zone 3, it tolerates Black Walnut and is drought tolerant once established. Plant with another Viburnum carlesii to produce ornamental berries. An outstanding choice for borders, foundation plantings, small gardens, fragrance gardens, and Black Walnut sites where compact size, spicy-scented blooms, and fall burgundy foliage are desired.
