Latin Name: Salvia farinacea

Commonly known as Mealy Cup Sage or Blue Sage, is a drought-tolerant plant (often grown as an annual) prized for its spiky blue-purple blooms and long flowering season. Growing 18–24 inches (45–60 cm) tall, it’s ideal for borders, cottage gardens, and pollinator landscapes.

This North American native produces dense, 6–8 inch (15–20 cm) flower spikes in vibrant shades of blue, purple, or white, blooming spring to frost. Its slender, gray-green leaves and square stems are typical of the mint family.

Thrives in full sun and well-draining soil. Heat- and drought-resistant once established. Hardy in zones 7–10 (annual in colder zones).

Perfect for low-water gardens, pair with yellow coreopsis, red penstemon, or ornamental grasses.
