Overview & Description

The Fall Gold Raspberry (Rubus idaeus ‘Fall Gold’) is a unique and eye-catching everbearing variety, celebrated for its large, firm, golden-yellow fruit that offers a sweet, honey-like flavor with a pleasant tart note. Unlike traditional red raspberries, this distinctive cultivar adds a pop of color and a delightful twist to your garden or table. Its upright, thorny canes are moderately vigorous and self-pollinating, making it an easy-to-grow choice for home gardeners. Small white flowers bloom in spring and summer, attracting pollinators and beneficial insects.

Growth & Size

This hardy raspberry variety exhibits an upright, columnar to bushy growth habit and can spread by suckers. It typically reaches a mature size of about 3 to 5 feet in height with a spread of 2 to 3 feet, making it a compact and productive option for small gardens. It can be expected to live for many years under ideal conditions.

Additional Notes

As an everbearing (primocane) variety, it produces two crops per year: the first harvest in late summer to early fall on the top third of the canes, and a second, more abundant yield the following early summer on the bottom two-thirds of the canes. The berries are not only visually stunning but also firm and juicy, perfect for fresh eating, desserts, or preserves. This variety thrives in full sun and well-drained, slightly acidic soil, and is known for its good winter hardiness Zone 3. Whether you’re a seasoned gardener or a beginner, this variety is a rewarding addition to any garden, offering both beauty and delicious flavor throughout the growing season.
