Overview & Description
The Early Gold Pear (Pyrus ussuriensis ‘JefGold’) is a northern gardener’s dream, producing sweet, crisp, golden-yellow pears as early as late August. The juicy, white-fleshed fruit offers an excellent balance of sweetness and refreshing texture, ripening weeks before most varieties. Glossy green summer foliage transforms into stunning burgundy-purple in autumn.
Growth & Size
This variety exhibits a vigorous, upright, and ornamental growth habit. It forms a medium-sized, well-branched tree, typically reaching a mature size of about 6 to 8 meters (20 to 26 feet) in both height and spread.
Additional Notes
It blooms in mid-spring with showy white flowers, with fruit ripening in late summer. Exceptionally cold-hardy to Zone 3, it thrives where other fruit trees fail. For best production, pair with Ure or Golden Spice pear as a pollinator. Its early harvest, exceptional flavor, and dramatic fall colour make it an outstanding choice for small orchards, edible landscaping, or as a dual-purpose shade tree.
