Latin Name: Browallia speciosaÂ
The Browallia, commonly called Bush Violet or Sapphire Flower, is a shade-loving annual prized for its vibrant blue, purple, or white blooms and lush foliage. Growing 12–18 inches (30–45 cm) tall, it’s ideal for containers, woodland gardens, and shady borders.
This Colombian native produces star-shaped, 1–2 inch (2.5–5 cm) flowers with yellow centers, blooming summer to fall. Its glossy, dark green leaves form a compact mound, offering texture even when not in flower.
Thrives in partial to full shade and rich, moist, well-draining soil. Heat-sensitive—performs best in cool summers or dappled light. Attracts hummingbirds but deer-resistant.
Perfect for brightening shady corners, pair with impatiens, ferns, or hostas.
