Latin Name: Callistephus chinensis ‘Matsumoto’

The Aster ‘Tall Matsumoto’ is a classic, upright annual aster prized for its bold, daisy-like flowers and long vase life. Growing 18–24 inches (45–60 cm) tall, it adds vibrant height to borders, cutting gardens, and mixed containers.

This cultivar produces large, semi-double blooms (2–3 inches wide) in vivid shades of purple, pink, red, white, and blue, with bright yellow centers. Its strong stems and glossy green foliage make it ideal for bouquets, lasting up to 10 days when cut.

‘Tall Matsumoto’ thrives in full sun and well-draining, fertile soil, blooming from mid-summer to fall. It benefits from regular watering and light fertilization but resists mildew better than older aster varieties.

A favorite for pollinators and low-maintenance gardens, it pairs beautifully with zinnias, marigolds, or ornamental grasses.
