Overview & Description

Andorra Compact Juniper (Juniperus horizontalis ‘Andorra Compact’) is a versatile, compact evergreen shrub prized for its dense, upright tiered branches with lacy, light green summer foliage that turns a striking plum-purple in fall and winter, adding vibrant cold-season colour. Its tidy, compact form provides excellent ground coverage and textural interest throughout the year.

Growth & Size

This variety exhibits a low-growing, spreading, tiered growth habit. It is a slow to moderate-growing shrub, typically reaching a mature size of about 12 – 18 inches in height with a spread of 36 – 48 inches.

Additional Notes

It does not have showy flowers. Hardy to Zone 3, it is drought tolerant once established and requires well-drained soil. An outstanding choice for rock gardens, borders, foundation plantings, mass plantings, and winter interest gardens where light green summer foliage, plum-purple winter colour, and compact spreading form are desired.
