Overview & Description

The Amber Jubilee Ninebark (Physocarpus o. ‘Jefam’ PP23177) is a stunning, multi-season shrub selected for its striking new foliage in glowing tones of orange, yellow, and gold. This cold-hardy, disease-resistant deciduous shrub was named in honor of Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee and is a result of a controlled cross between ‘Darts Gold’ and Diablo® ninebark. In late spring to early summer, it produces clusters of delicate white flowers. The foliage emerges in vibrant orange-yellow tones, matures to lime-green in summer, and then transforms into dramatic shades of red and purple in autumn.

Growth & Size

This variety exhibits a dense, rounded, and upright growth habit. It typically reaches a mature size of about 5 to 6 feet in height with a spread of 4 to 6 feet. It grows at a moderate rate.

Additional Notes

It blooms in late spring to early summer. Exceptionally hardy to Zone 2, it is mildew-resistant and thrives in full sun for best color, though it tolerates partial shade. It is adaptable to a wide range of well-drained soils, drought-tolerant once established, and has no significant negative characteristics. An outstanding choice for hedges, mass plantings, mixed borders, foundation plantings, or as a colorful specimen where season-long interest and low-maintenance appeal are desired.
