April Showers Bring May Flowers

Let’s hope that all our recent moisture in April will produce fantastic floral results. Leaf and flowers buds are lying in wait, ready for some warm temperatures to burst into botanical beauty. All of us are itching to get into our gardens and start cleaning, creating and growing. Our Greenhouse, Garden Centre and Tree and Shrub area will be fully stocked by middle of May, and of course all the other landscaping supplies required to create your perfect outdoor oasis, including sod, are already available.

Traditionally we begin in earnest by the May long weekend, but it really depends on weather conditions, night time temperatures and the fear of frost put to rest. As our gardens start to erupt in perennial growth and the spring blooms of apples and crabapples, mayday, Russian almond, forsythia, double flowering plums, Nanking cherries, Ussurian pear, lilacs and more start to bloom you can believe that our garden season is finally here! Spring perennials and bulbs should soon be well on there way, and hopefully we’ll start to see all sorts of Canada Celebration tulip displays throughout YYC.

We also want to celebrate this gardening season with our Blue Grass Garden Club Members. Throughout May and June, expect a Garden Club exclusive weekly email from us that will include garden tips, plant of the week profiles or product features and spring savings coupons! Whether you’re just getting started, working on your current garden or just want to grow more, there will be something for everyone!
