Latin Name: Zinnia elegans ‘State Fair’Â
The Zinnia ‘Tall State Fair Mix’ is a stately, heirloom annual celebrated for its enormous, double blooms and exceptional cut-flower qualities. Reaching 3–4 feet (90–120 cm) tall, it’s ideal for back of borders, cutting gardens, and cottage-style landscapes.
This old-fashioned mix produces 4–6 inch (10–15 cm) dahlia-like flowers in vibrant shades of pink, yellow, red, orange, and purple, with fully double, layered petals. Blooming mid-summer to frost, its long, sturdy stems make it perfect for bouquets lasting 7–10 days.
Thrives in full sun and fertile, well-draining soil. While heat-tolerant, it benefits from afternoon shade in hot climates. Staking may be needed to support heavy blooms.
Perfect for dramatic garden displays, pair with cosmos, sunflowers, or tall salvias.
