Latin Name: Cuphea hyssopifolia

The Mexican Heather or False Heather, is a compact, evergreen shrub prized for its delicate foliage and profuse tiny flowers. Growing 12–24 inches (30–60 cm) tall, it’s ideal for borders, containers, and ground cover in warm climates.

This perennial (often grown as an annual in cooler zones) features narrow, glossy green leaves and small, star-shaped flowers in shades of lavender, pink, or white, blooming spring to frost. Its fine texture and long bloom season attract butterflies and hummingbirds.

Thrives in full sun to partial shade and well-draining soil. Drought-tolerant once established but prefers consistent moisture. Hardy in zones 9–11, it’s often treated as an annual elsewhere.

Perfect for tropical or cottage gardens, pair with lantana, salvia, or dwarf coleus for vibrant color contrast.
