Latin Name: Viola cornuta ‘Penny’

The Viola ‘Penny’ is a charming, compact perennial (often grown as an annual) prized for its dollhouse-sized blooms and long flowering season. Growing just 4–6 inches (10–15 cm) tall with a spread of 8–10 inches (20–25 cm), it’s perfect for rock gardens, containers, and fairy gardens.

This miniature viola produces 1-inch (2.5 cm) flowers in delicate shades of lavender, yellow, white, and bicolors, often with whiskered faces. Unlike larger pansies, it blooms continuously from early spring through fall, even tolerating light frosts.

Thrives in cool weather, preferring partial shade (morning sun) and moist, well-draining soil. Deadheading encourages more blooms.

Perfect for edging pathways or window boxes, pair with miniature hostas, creeping thyme, or dwarf primroses.
