Out of Season

Latin Name: Salvia splendens

Commonly known as Scarlet Sage or Tropical Sage, is a bold, heat-loving annual prized for its vibrant flower spikes and long blooming season. Growing 1–3 feet (30–90 cm) tall, it’s ideal for beds, borders, and mass plantings.

This Brazilian native produces dense, 6–8 inch (15–20 cm) flower spikes in fiery red, purple, pink, or white, blooming summer to frost. Its glossy, oval leaves contrast sharply with the bright blooms.

Thrives in full sun to partial shade and moist, well-draining soil. Heat-tolerant but frost-sensitive (hardy in zones 10–11 as a perennial).

Perfect for high-impact color, pair with silver dusty miller, yellow marigolds, or blue ageratum.
