Latin Name: Portulaca grandiflora ‘ColorBlast’

The Portulaca ‘ColorBlast’ is a dazzling, drought-tolerant annual prized for its large, semi-double blooms and vibrant color saturation. Growing 6–8 inches (15–20 cm) tall with a spread of 12–16 inches (30–40 cm), it’s ideal for rock gardens, containers, and hot, dry slopes.

This improved hybrid series produces 2–2.5 inch (5–6 cm) flowers in electric shades of orange, pink, yellow, and red, often with contrasting stripes or centers. Unlike older portulacas, its blooms stay open longer (even on cloudy days) and resist fading in intense sun.

Thrives in full sun and poor, well-draining soil. Heat- and drought-resistant, requiring minimal care. Deer-resistant and self-cleaning.

Perfect for xeriscapes, pair with blue agave, sedum, or ornamental grasses.

Key Features:

  • Flowers: Day-blooming, jewel-toned
