Latin Name: Viola × wittrockiana ‘Matrix’Â
The Pansy ‘Matrix Mix’ is a vigorous, early-blooming annual prized for its large, velvety flowers and cold tolerance. Growing 6–8 inches (15–20 cm) tall, it’s ideal for borders, containers, and winter gardens (zones 4–9).
This mix features 2.5–3 inch (6–7.5 cm) blooms in bold hues of purple, yellow, orange, red, and bicolors, often with contrasting “faces” or blotches. Unlike older varieties, the Matrix series offers improved heat resistance, blooming fall through spring (or year-round in mild climates).
Thrives in full sun to partial shade and rich, well-draining soil. Frost-hardy, it survives light snow but may fade in summer heat. Self-cleaning with minimal deadheading needed.
Perfect for mass plantings or seasonal displays, pair with primroses, ornamental kale, or dwarf snapdragons.
