Latin Name: Tropaeolum majus ‘Jewel’Â
The Nasturtium ‘Jewel’ is a compact, bushy annual prized for its vibrant, jewel-toned blooms and edible foliage. Growing 10–12 inches (25–30 cm) tall, it’s perfect for borders, containers, and kitchen gardens.
This upright variety produces 2–2.5 inch (5–6 cm) single flowers in bold shades of ruby red, deep orange, golden yellow, and cream, with a subtle fragrance. Its rounded, blue-green leaves are also edible, offering a peppery kick to salads.
Thrives in full sun to partial shade and poor, well-draining soil; excessive fertility reduces blooms. Drought-tolerant and pest-resistant, it blooms summer to frost with minimal care.
Ideal for companion planting (deters aphids), pair with lettuce, herbs, or dwarf zinnias.
