Latin Name: Lobelia erinus ‘Riviera’Â
The Lobelia ‘Upright Riviera’ is a compact, mounding annual prized for its dense, vibrant blooms and tidy growth habit. Reaching 6–8 inches (15–20 cm) tall, it’s perfect for borders, edging, and container fronts.
This cultivar produces masses of ½-inch (1 cm) flowers in intense shades of blue, white, pink, or violet, often with a white eye, creating a carpet of color from spring to early summer (and fall in cool climates). Its fine, lance-shaped leaves form a lush green mound.
Thriving in cool weather, it prefers partial shade (morning sun) and moist, well-draining soil. Heat may pause blooming, but it rebounds in autumn.
Attracts bees and butterflies while resisting deer. Pair with white alyssum, dusty miller, or dwarf snapdragons for contrast.
