Overview & Description
Golden Pfitzer Juniper (Juniperus chinensis ‘Pfitzeriana Aurea’) is a striking, spreading evergreen shrub prized for its bright golden yellow foliage that emerges in spring, creating a vibrant, eye-catching display. New growth maintains the brilliant golden hue before maturing to lime-green by fall. Its arching branches form a mounding growth habit that spreads broadly, covering a significant amount of ground while adding delicate texture and year-round colour.
Growth & Size
This variety exhibits a spreading, mounding, arching growth habit. It is a moderate-growing shrub, typically reaching a mature size of about 4 – 5 feet in height with a spread of 8 feet. Its broad, spreading form makes it ideal for mass plantings, groundcover, slopes, and foundation plantings.
Additional Notes
It does not have showy flowers. Hardy to Zone 3, it is drought tolerant once established and thrives in full sun with well-drained soil. An outstanding choice for mass plantings, groundcover, slopes, foundation plantings, and xeriscapes where bright golden yellow spring foliage, arching branches, and broad spreading form are desired.
