Overview & Description
The Globe Caragana (Caragana frutex ‘Globosa’) is a slow-growing, compact shrub known for its dense, naturally globular shape and fine-textured foliage. Its bright green, small pinnate leaves provide a lush, delicate appearance throughout the growing season. In late spring to early summer, cheerful, small yellow flowers appear, adding a splash of colour and attracting pollinators. This tidy shrub holds its rounded form with minimal to no pruning.
Growth & Size
This variety exhibits a dense, naturally rounded to globular, and compact growth habit. It forms a neat, symmetrical shrub, typically reaching a mature size of about 3 to 4 feet in both height and spread.
Additional Notes
It blooms in late spring with yellow flowers. Exceptionally hardy to Zone 2, it is highly drought and salt tolerant once established and adapts to poor, alkaline soils, thriving in full sun. Low-maintenance and cold-tolerant. An outstanding choice for borders, rock gardens, foundation plantings, low hedges, xeriscaping, or as a tidy specimen where reliable structure, seasonal interest, and resilience are desired.
