Overview & Description
Firelight Tidbit Hydrangea (Hydrangea paniculata ‘Firelight Tidbit’) is a compact, dwarf panicle hydrangea prized for its vibrant, long-lasting flower color and manageable size. In mid-summer, large, conical flower clusters emerge creamy white, quickly transitioning to rich pink, and finally deepening to fiery raspberry-red as autumn approaches. The stunning multi-tonal blooms are held on strong, sturdy stems that resist flopping, even after heavy rain. Its dark green, ovate foliage is disease-resistant and provides an attractive backdrop for the colorful floral display.
Growth & Size
This variety exhibits a compact, rounded, upright growth habit. It is a slow to moderate-growing dwarf shrub, typically reaching a mature size of about 24 – 36 inches in both height and spread.
Additional Notes
It blooms from mid-summer through fall on new wood. Hardy to Zone 4, it thrives in full sun to partial shade and prefers moist, well-drained, organically rich soil. It is low-maintenance, deer resistant, and attracts pollinators. Prune in late spring to shape and promote vigorous growth. An outstanding choice for small-space gardens, and northern landscapes where fiery red-pink blooms, compact habit, and reliable performance are desired.
