Latin Name: Dianthus plumarius ‘Supertrouper’

The Dianthus ‘Supertrouper’ is a show-stopping, clove-scented plant prized for its vivid, double blooms and compact habit. Growing 8–10 inches (20–25 cm) tall, it’s ideal for rock gardens, containers, and fragrant borders.

This floriferous cultivar produces 1.5-inch (4 cm) fringed flowers in electric magenta-pink with darker pink centers and white-edged petals, creating a striking “target” pattern. Blooms late spring to summer (with repeat flushes if deadheaded) atop blue-gray, grass-like foliage.

Thrives in full sun and well-draining, alkaline soil. Drought- and heat-tolerant once established. Hardy in zones 4–9 (evergreen in mild winters).

Perfect for pollinator gardens, pair with lavender, sedum, or silver thyme.

Key Features:

  • Flowers: Honey-scented, long-lasting cut

  • Foliage: Silvery, mat-forming

  • Uses: Edging, fairy gardens
