Latin Name: Dianthus caryophyllus ‘Dianthalot’Â
The Dianthus ‘Dianthalot’ is a floriferous, compact perennial (often grown as an annual) prized for its profuse, fringed blooms and long vase life. Growing 10–12 inches (25–30 cm) tall, it’s ideal for containers, borders, and cut flower gardens.
This F1 hybrid series produces 1.5-inch (4 cm) double carnation-like flowers in vibrant shades of pink, red, white, and bicolors, with serrated petal edges and a light spicy fragrance. Blooms spring to frost (in cool climates) atop silvery-blue foliage.
Thrives in full sun and well-draining, slightly alkaline soil. Drought-tolerant once established but benefits from regular deadheading. Hardy in zones 5–9 (evergreen in mild winters).
Perfect for cottage gardens, pair with catmint, salvia, or dwarf iris.
