Overview & Description

The Blizzard Mockorange (Philadelphus lewisii ‘Blizzard’) is a compact, dwarf cultivar of the native Lewis Mockorange, prized for its exceptional cold hardiness and profuse floral display. It is covered in fragrant, pure white, single flowers in early summer, creating a spectacular “blizzard” of blooms. This deciduous shrub has a dense, mounded habit with small, bright green leaves.

Growth & Size

This variety exhibits a dense, mounded, and compact growth habit. It forms a tidy, well-shaped shrub, typically reaching a mature size of about 3 to 4 feet in both height and spread.

Additional Notes

It blooms in early summer with fragrant, pure white flowers. Exceptionally cold-hardy to Zone 3, drought-tolerant, and adaptable to various well-drained soils. Thrives in full sun. An outstanding choice for foundation plantings, low hedges, borders, and fragrance gardens where manageable size, intense fragrance, and reliable performance in harsh climates are desired.
