Overview & Description
Agincourt Beauty French Lilac (Syringa vulgaris ‘Agincourt Beauty’) is a stunning deciduous shrub prized for having the largest lilac blooms of any variety. In mid-spring, conical panicles of dark purple buds open to lightly scented, large, single, deep violet florets, creating a dramatic, eye-catching display. The heart-shaped, green-blue foliage provides an attractive backdrop throughout the growing season. This improved selection produces fewer suckers than the common lilac, making it tidier and easier to manage.
Growth & Size
This variety exhibits an upright, rounded, multi-stemmed growth habit. It is a moderate-growing shrub, typically reaching a mature size of about 8 – 10 feet in height with a spread of 6.5 – 8 feet.
Additional Notes
It blooms in mid-spring. Hardy to Zone 3, it prefers moist, well-drained soil and is low-maintenance once established. An outstanding choice for hedges, screens, mass plantings, specimens, and fragrance gardens where the largest lilac blooms, deep violet colour, fewer suckers, and reliable performance are desired. Drought tolerant and deer resistant.
