Dancing into December

Dancing into December

The party has begun, the hustle and bustle of the season is upon us and our Christmas Store is in full action. With themes of Farmhouse to Elegant Woodland to Black Tie, we’ve got something for everyone’s Christmas taste. We have beautiful premium Fir trees, loads of Christmas ornaments and décor, great gifts, seasonal blooms and so much more in store. Watch for our Countdown to Christmas sales as we get closer to the big day, bigger sales as we go but how long should you delay? If you’ve had your eye on that something special, don’t wait too long as sales apply to in stock items only.

Heading outside, seems we could be continuing to enjoy a mild winter. Keep an eye on your outdoor gems, pile up snow (if possible) or even occasionally water your trees if we get prolonged winds and dry periods, once or twice a month. Water midday so that it can soak into the soil before it freezes at night, focus on root zones; if you didn’t get mulch down before winter, you can still add some to keep soil at a more even temperature and hold soil moisture longer. Newly or late planted perennials and shrubs will also benefit from occasional watering as needed. Plants against foundations, buildings or fences may require some attention as well, if perennials or bulbs start to emerge, try to cover with more soil or mulch. We’ve had some reports of tree and shrub buds forming in the warmer weather as well, unfortunately in that case we must trust Mother Nature to look out for them.

Indoor plants continue to enjoy a booming popularity, with wrapped bundles leaving our Greenhouse even when it’s frightfully chilly. Regardless of rising temperatures in mid winter, please insist on getting your precious greenery and seasonal flowers covered and wrapped to take home, they’re used to being comfy and cozy in the warmth of the greenhouse. A blast of chill air will cause damage. Watch for upcoming tips on keeping your seasonal plant gifts and blooms thriving throughout the season.

From all of us at Blue Grass, warmest wishes during the holiday season for you and yours.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! The best is yet to come!
